Warm Welcome

Welcome to the heart of Huggy Bears' Knitting Community.
Huggy Bears® began in 2021 with the vision to transition kindy students with something special to love as they began their learning journey.
Huggy Bear is that "Special Friend" who does not make any noise but can listen to everything with their very beautiful big ears.
Their front pocket can keep extra kisses from someone special to be "on hand" whenever a reminder is needed when feeling sad.
Huggy Bear can be used for a range of exciting learning lessons at anytime during the day and becomes a part of the education activities happening in class.
Huggy Bear stays at school for the first half of the year then they can go and meet the rest of the family at home.
Each child takes time to choose their very own Huggy Bear, knitted with love!

There are endless variations that make each Huggy Bear unique ready to be adopted by one very special child.

About Us
How it all began.....
.......The Lord led Carolyn to begin this project one morning after wondering what she could get involved in next. The idea was to "create a best friend" for little Kindy kids.
Watching how her little great granddaughter transitioned from "parallel play" to group play it resonated with Carolyn to create something that her grandie could call her "best friend" until she made new friends in her class.
The idea grew and with the blessing from her Church who offered to sponsor the project, Huggy Bears® came into being.
The first year, faithful knitters created 100 Huggy Bears the kindy classes for two of the local schools.
The word is out and each year more Huggy Bears are needed.
